Fire brigades are worried about the emerging danger of these  – South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended their 7th fire of the year in March where the cause has been an e-cigarette.

As an employer you should have a clear policy in place for the use of these within the workplace as they are an electrical item needing a charger, this should be covered in your Fire Risk Assessment.

There are many brands on the market, but cheap chargers could be the cause of a fire within your premises and coupled with the fact that there is no clear medical opinion on the safety to health what is your stance?

You should ensure that your smoking policy is updated to make clear your approach to the use of e-cigarettes.
