Many businesses have asked us if they can purchase extinguishers off the internet.

And of course you can.

However, you are not necessarily getting a good deal.

Extinguishers should be commissioned in situ, the trained technician needs to establish if they are fit to be in service – for example if they have been damaged in shipping they could be scrapped. Is the internet provider covered by sufficient insurance – who would you claim from in this instance?

There is a cost in relation to having extinguishers commissioned and an attendance fee, this would be the same usually for all extinguisher providers, however a provider may not charge you a full delivery cost. By purchasing through a reputable Company such as ourselves, you know we have the correct insurance policies in place and are registered with ISO (and yes, we will shout it again – we passed with flying colours!) We have the relevant risk assessments in place in line with our Health and Safety policies.

We also have a waste carriers licence which permits us to take the redundant extinguishers away for correct disposal.

In the event of a fire situation, will internet bought extinguishers work and who would you claim from if they didn’t?  In an investigation would you be able to prove competency?
